Store Policies

Why buy antique furniture instead of new?
Well, antique furniture has already stood the test of time.  Most new furniture is sold to last maybe a decade, if you're lucky.  What we sell was built 50 to 150 years ago when you would be considered a public disgrace if you sold such shoddy workmanship that if a piece didn't last at least a generation.  It's this kind of quality furniture and accessories that we strive to fill our 2 floors with.   And, buying such a piece is not only a great value and but if taken care of, an investment that will pay you dividends down the road.  You can't say that when you throw your Ikea sofa out on the road for rubbish man 2 years after you wasted your hard earned money.

And...antiques are green!
Buying antiques is the original form of being green.  You can't get anymore green than re-using furniture generation after generation.  You can dramatically reduce your carbon footprint by not chopping down more trees when you buy new furniture.  And, by taking care of your antiques, you not only honor these fine pieces but reduce the need to use up more resources to replace them.

Our policy at The Antique Roadhouse is to bring you the finest antique furniture and objects of interest at a descent price.  Compare us to the antique stores on Charles St. in Boston, or Cambridge or even Providence and you'll see our prices are much better. And, without all the hassles of downtown traffic and parking...Norwood doesn't even have parking meters.

Plus, you don't have to drive for hours all the way out to Brimfield.  Then, when you get there, tromp around muddy fields and deal with people from far away states selling furniture off the back of pick-ups.  And, if you do find something, you have to drag your furniture miles back to your car and pray it fits in. At The Antique Roadhouse, we've always lived locally, we're not just antique dealers, we're your neighbors!

And, you have my personal guarantee, you will never EVER get the hard sell.  My policy is to just say hello to the customer and then let them wander the store undisturbed.  I don't like be pestered by salespeople and I think most people agree.  If you need help or have questions we're certainly here to serve, but only if you ask!  Please let me know right away if you felt pressured or pestered by anyone at the Antique Roadhouse.

To bring you low prices we work on a small margin, we must have a policy of
ALL SALES ARE FINAL
...sorry, no exceptions.
All pieces are sold as is with no warranties expressed or implied
nor do we accept responsibilities for typographical or omissions of error.

We accept all major credit cards for purchases over 20 bucks, checks, Paypal and of course, good old American cash is always greatly appreciated!

 CONSIGNMENTS
We accept select pieces on consignment. It must truly be an antique or a piece we find of great interest or one we know to be in demand.  The price is set by agreement between you, the consignee and the store. Obviously, we want to get the highest price to make the most money for both you and the store.

We charge the industry norm of 50/50.  For that we can arrange to pick up the piece, do small repairs/clean up/restore as needed, although the piece does need to be in good condition to begin with.  We display it on our main floor, advertise it, sell it..all you need do is cash the check we send you when it sells!

If you have a piece you would like to consign, the easiest first step is to email us some pics to give us an idea of what you've got.  Or, you can contact us to make an appointment for a housecall, or ideally, you can bring it by the store.

We can handle one small piece or a whole estate and if we can't we'll gladly suggest someone who can!
